Jan. 31, 2014—Four Seasons announced Thursday that it was honored with the Mobile Air Conditioning Society’s (MACS) Most Innovative New Product award for its Deslugger compressor clutch timer.
The award was presented during the 2014 MACS Worldwide Training Event and Trade Show in New Orleans, La.
“Receiving the ‘Most Innovative New Product’ award from [MACS] is a tremendous honor and recognition for Four Seasons,” said Mike Carney, vice president of Standard Motor Products’ temperature control division. “This is a prestigious award and since it is voted on by motor press in the aftermarket, it carries even greater significance. Having some of the technical experts in our industry acknowledge our new product that will alleviate commonly experienced problems with original equipment parts, gives our entire team great pride.”
The Deslugger cycle timer is designed to help prevent slugging in low mounted compressors after the vehicle has been sitting idle for 30 minutes or longer.
Upon the next start up, the Deslugger cycle timer gradually pushes oil or liquid refrigerant out of the compressor before it fully engages, relieving the possibility of a catastrophic system failure. The Deslugger cycle timer is not a fix for units that may have previous damage.
