Jan. 10, 2013—General motors recently announced plans to hire around 1,000 high-tech workers for its new Information Technology Innovation Center near Atlanta, according to a GM press release_notes.
The new hires will include software developers, project managers, database experts, business analysts, as well as other IT professionals to staff its third of four centers in the U.S.
GM officials said the new facility will produce cutting-edge automotive technologies.
"We look to the Innovation Centers to design and deliver IT that drives down the cost of ongoing operations while continuously increasing the level and speed at which innovative products and services are available to GM customers," GM chief information officer Randy Mott said in a statement. “The IT Innovation Centers are critical to our overall GM business strategy and IT transformation."
