Numbers: Where Are Shops Finding Their Next Apprentices?
According to the 2026 Industry Survey, more than half of the shops surveyed report having some form of an apprenticeship program. But with the technician shortage on owners’ minds, where are they sourcing these apprentices?
In-house programs and local education programs were the two most common sources for apprentices, each cited by 41% of respondents as their primary source, while only 13% of shops rely on veteran transition programs. As shop owners look for the next generation of talent, investing in apprenticeships allows them to build loyal teams with skills they can trust.
