Aug. 19, 2016—Genesis, the new luxury brand from Hyundai, announced Thursday that it has teamed up with Amazon to optimize the connected home with the connected car.
Owners of the new G80 and G90 models will be able to use their Amazon Echo, Tap, Echo Dot and Fire TV to send remote car commands from inside their own homes, including remote start of their vehicles and climate control, door locks, lights and horn operation.
Amazon’s products allow for voice-controlled commands sent by Amazon Alexa, the product’s voice personality, similar to Apple’s Siri. Owners, for example, can say, "Alexa, tell Genesis to start my car at 70 degrees," or "Alexa, tell Genesis to lock my car."
Genesis vehicles will come with three years of complimentary Genesis Connected Car Services and G90 owners will receive a complimentary Amazon gift card that can be applied toward an Amazon Echo.
"The Amazon Alexa skill for Genesis demonstrates our progressive commitment to technology that is intuitive and customer-focused. It aligns with our belief that time and convenience are the ultimate luxuries," said Erwin Raphael, general manager of Genesis U.S. market. "From remotely locking your car from your living room, to starting your G90 and setting the temperature from your bedroom, the Alexa skill for Genesis offers a new level of ease for owners."
