VW Near Fix for 3.0-liter Diesels

May 10, 2016

May 10, 2016—Volkswagen is said to be near a fix for its emissions-failing 3.0-liter Audi and Porsche V6 diesels in about 85,000 vehicles in the U.S., according to a report from Automotive News

A few final details and reviewing test results to ensure reliability of a software upgrade are the focus of the ongoing talks with U.S. regulators, according to sources who asked not to be named in the Automotive News report because the discussions are still private. A new catalytic converter may also be part of the fix.

The talks for the 3.0-liter fix are a part of the broader discussion between U.S. regulators and VW to fix the more than 450,000 2.0-liter emissions-cheating VW diesels.

The V6 engine is used in the Audi A6, A7, A8, Q5, and Q7, along with the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg.
