April 18, 2022—A software error is to blame for a recent recall from Toyota, according to an article from USA Today. The recall affects 460,000 vehicles and covers 2020 to 2022 model years, including the brands Venza, Mirari, RAV 4 Hybrid, RAV 4 Prime, Sienna HV, and Highlander HV.
The recall also includes Lexus models LS500h, LX600, NX350h, and NX45oh-plus from the same years.
The software issue may prevent the "vehicle control system" from turning automatically once the car is started. This may disable the system, which uses a computer to individually brake wheels for the vehicle.
In order to fix this problem, software updates will need to be initiated on the vehicles. Owners involved in the recall will be notified by mid-June 2022.
