It’s the first time in more than four years that Toyota hasn’t been the brand most Americans considered first.

Feb. 9, 2022—More Americans considered buying a Ford than any other brand in Q4 2021, Kelley Blue Book reported.

It’s the first time in more than four years that Toyota hasn’t been the brand most Americans considered first.

The news comes from Kelley Blue Book’s Brand Watch survey  — a quarterly consumer perception survey that also weaves in shopping behavior to determine how a brand or model stacks up with its segment competitors.

Toyota still beat Ford where it matters — more shoppers ultimately bought a Toyota.

The survey also found most shoppers (66 percent) prefer SUVs over sedans and pickup trucks.
