Oct. 21, 2021—Shops are reporting significantly longer wait times for parts than normal.
A WEAU 13 News report details the struggles of Jay’s Auto Repair in Schofield, Wisc., which is seeing parts timelines shift from two to three days to two or three weeks. Wire harness and oil filters have been the toughest to get, the shop’s operations manager Cary Romanowski told the outlet. For European cars, in some cases, those delays have extended to four to six weeks.
“We’re trying the best we can. If somebody can’t supply the parts, we’re not the ones trying to make them, we’re just trying to get them,” said Romanowski. “My biggest thing is I can try to get it from every supplier in order to get my guest on the road.”
Jay’s Auto Repair isn’t alone. An Observer-Reporter report documented the struggles of several repair and collision shops. The findings were very similar, with delays stretching from days to multiple weeks.
“We have to wait two or three days just for rotors or other parts,” Dave Pryor, owner of Pryor’s Auto Service, told the outlet. “They say it’s going to get worse. Normally, you just call and get them; now you have to wait and get them. We use three different suppliers and we have to see who can get the parts the fastest.”
