Mercedes-Benz and Microsoft have partnered up in an attempt to elevate the way technicians are able to work on cars.
Sept. 10, 2020—Mercedes-Benz has partnered with Microsoft to "redefine automotive maintenance and the way service technicians work," according to Business Wire.
The collaboration features Microsoft's HoloLens 2, a mixed reality headset paired with Mercedes-Benz's Dynamics 365 Remote Assist. A mixed reality environment is a hybrid experience where the headset wearer can view intricate 3D images and holograms, see where changes need to be made, and even annotate the visual image and add documents. The pairing will allow onsite dealership technicians to work hands-free while also sharing real-time views and sounds of the vehicle with Mercedes-Benz specialists.
The goals of this collaborations are to enhance customer experiences, increase efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, and eliminate a contact point in times of COVID-19.
