Shell Acquires EV Charging Network Volta

Jan. 20, 2023Shell has agreed to purchase electric charging company Volta in an all-cash deal worth $169 million under a “definitive merger agreement" as reported by Green Car Reports. 

Volta build out its DC fast-charging network in 2019 and 2020 and made a name for itself by equipping its chargers with 55-inch digital displays in 200 cities across 23 states. Vehicle owners could charge for free with revenue to the company generated by on-screen advertising.
