On Saturday, March 2, the VISION Hi-Tech Training and Expo leadership team announced its 2023 award winners.
The night began with the team announcing that it had raised over $10,000 for Technicians for Tomorrow, an educational not-for-profit through its t-shirt sales and silent auction.
Scholarship Winners
Following that announcement, scholarships were announced. Lisa Coyle, cofounder of Promotive, announced three scholarships supplied by her company. The winners were Tyler Martins, Shannon Norton, and Eric Gonzales. They also awarded three-weekend student scholarships. Those awards of $1,000 each went to Isaac DeBilzan of Hennepin Technical College; Malia Wiederein of Kirkwood Community College; and Zachary Maske of North Central Kansas Community College.
Four memorial scholarships were also awarded at the event:
- Greg Deeds Memorial Scholarship provided by ECUHero was awarded to Casey Kozenczak of Meineke Car Care Centers
- Tim Cummings Memorial Scholarship provided by Rick's Automotive was awarded to Kimber Kelly of J&T Auto Service.
- Anthony Williams Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Melanie Beaman of Trent's Garage.
- Harvey Chan Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Alejandro Lopez of Johnny's Auto Repair.
Additional scholarship dollars were offered to Jason Cornett of Carthage, Missouri. Oz Mechanics offered a scholarship to Gilberto Moran of Katy, Texas, while Amazing Women in Automotive provided a scholarship to Michelle Trube of GT Transmissions.
