Newer-Model Fords Recalled Over Instrument Cluster Failures

Ford has issued a recall of around 39,000 vehicles due to an issue causing the instrument panel to go blank.

Ford has issued a recall of around 39,000 vehicles due to an issue causing the instrument panel to go blank, Kelley Blue Book reports.

The recall applies to the 2023 models of the Escape, F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, F-450 Super Duty, and F-550 Super Duty.

Federal safety regulators were told by the automaker that some vehicles may have improperly soldered joints within the instrument panel clusters, with no warning being given to drivers when the display fails.

This “renders safety-related telltales and gauges unreadable, increasing the risk of a crash,” Ford claimed.

Though no accidents or injuries have been reported, Ford has received 84 warranty claims and 36 field reports of the instrument cluster failing in vehicles.

To remedy the problem, dealers will be replacing the instrument panel cluster within affected vehicles.
