The Automotive Service and Tire Alliance (ASTA) will be holding events to support two successful automotive education programs in North Carolina, according to a press release.

Watauga High School houses a fully operational auto repair shop that students train in, led by instructor Erik Mortensen, who has received national recognition as an elite instructor. More than 200 of his students are regular attendees of advisory council meetings.

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute has fostered a relationship with ASTA, with the two organizations hoping to further establish engagement at the state level and benefit both the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute as well as ASTA and its programs.

Automotive enthusiasts, educators, families, and the local community are all invited to attend events soon being held by each school.

On November 17, an open house and cookout will take place at Watauga High School, located at 300 Go Pioneers Dr in Boone, North Carolina. The following day will see the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute Training and Advisor Council Meeting at 3030 Hickory Blvd. in Hudson, North Carolina. 

Training sessions will be held to showcase skills being taught by the automotive programs, including a tire repair class led by TIA Certified Instructor Garth Overcash, Brandon Dills of Jarhead Diagnostics providing a step-by-step guide on diagnostics, and 180BIZ Lead Coach Rick White discussing how to transition from being a technician to shop owner.
