Winter Weather Brings Increase in Business for Auto Repair Shops
With a large part of the country recouping from recent extreme winter weather, automotive repair shops have seen an influx of customers needing service.
Though Jesse Moffet, owner of Good Hope Service in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, opens up his shop at 7 a.m. every day, he’s been greeted by tow trucks and damaged vehicles already waiting for him at the building, FOX6 News Milwaukee reports.
The shop has seen an increase in business, averaging 30 cars a day since snowy conditions hit the region. Much of the problems revolve around tire damage and dead batteries–the latter of which often leaves drivers stuck.
“Having a bad battery when it’s zero degrees and your car won't start, can leave you stranded,” stated Moffet.
Over in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Firestone Manager Nick Smelley is keeping more technicians on hand to handle the wave of customers the snow has brought in, according to CBS 42. Similarly to Moffet, he has witnessed more customers needing battery replacements, and requesting tire checks or a new set of tires altogether.
“Mainly I am expecting more people coming in today for tire pressure checks, because the colder it gets, the lower your tire pressure gets and some are wanting batteries as well,” said Firestone technician Deionte Sterling. “Some people can’t drive in snow and sleet.”
