ASE Announces Six Additions to 2023 President’s Club

April 4, 2024
The six newest additions each outlined their motivations for pursuing President's Club status.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has announced the latest additions to the 2023 class of the ASE President’s Club in a recent press release.

Selections are made each year for the ASE President’s Club, with the requirements being to pass 50 ASE certification tests. The military test series and all OEM-specific tests do not count toward the requirements.

The newest individuals to join the President’s Club include:

  • Mark Cossitt of Universal Technical Institute in Highlands Ranch, Colorado
  • Jonathan Couch of Couch’s Automotive Racing Services in Porter, Texas
  • Bryan Gold of First Transit in Downers Grove, Illinois
  • Shane Lally of First Student in Brookfield, Connecticut
  • Ryan Oblak of First Transit in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania
  • Thomas Palermo of Preferred Automotive Specialists in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Each technician outlined their own motivations for gaining ASE certifications. Couch said that after first gaining certifications at 19 years old, many new opportunities became available to him, such as being hosted as a speaker at training conferences.

Workplace incentives pushed Oblak toward gaining ASE certification, and after seeing how many he had managed to gain, he began to aim for every certification he could get.

Palermo is an example of someone with industry experience who continues to thrive in the field, having become first involved with ASE nearly 30 years ago, and now serving on the ASE Board of Directors.

“These exceptional individuals not only have successful careers as service professionals, but they have earned ASE certifications in 50 areas, the pinnacle of excellence,” said ASE President and CEO Dave Johnson. “It is with great honor that we welcome them into the prestigious ASE President’s Club.”
