Northwood University has received a $5 million donation from the Reynolds and Reynolds Company, a provider of automotive retail software, according to a press release.
The donation was announced during the President's Freedom Celebration, which took place on June 6 at Northwood University and was sponsored by Reynolds. The funds will be put towards construction of a new Center for Automotive & Mobility Studies at Northwood’s Midland, Michigan campus.
Slated to be one of the school’s biggest construction projects to date, the Center will house classrooms, a conference center, improved hotel accommodations, and a lobby. An advisory council of auto industry leaders will be appointed to oversee the Center’s educational goals.
Alongside the upcoming facility, Northwood and Reynolds will be partnering to establish a talent recruitment program that will aim to bring Northwood graduates across all majors to work in automotive retail.
“As the automotive industry continues to thrive, we need creative, highly educated, and talented leaders eager to innovate and bring their ideas to fruition,” said Reynolds President Chris Walsh. “Reynolds is proud to have a part in providing Northwood students a place to learn, grow, and become leaders at OEMs, dealerships, and companies dedicated to improving outcomes for both.”
