Sadowski Auto Care of North Arlington, New Jersey, will be fundraising for breast cancer vaccine research over the next month as part of the Brakes for Breasts campaign, reports The Observer.
The shop is one of hundreds of independent repair providers that will be fundraising for Cleveland Clinic, which is developing a vaccine that has proved effective in preventing breast cancer in lab animals, as part of the annual Brakes for Breasts initiative.
The funds raised will go towards supporting the research currently underway at The Dr. Tuohy Lab, a team of researchers at Cleveland Clinic.
With phase 1a trials on the potential vaccine having successfully completed in April 2023, phase 1b and 1c are now being conducted, with phase 2 trials tentatively expected to begin near the end of next year.
To help support the effort, Sadowski Auto Care and all other participating repair shops will give away free brake pads and shoes, with the customer paying only for labor and other parts that may be needed.
The shop will then donate 10% of the brake job directly to the Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Research Fund.
