Ford’s Mustang Mach-E Electric Vehicle Outpaces Gasoline-Powered Counterpart

While the Mach-E SUV saw over a 25% increase in sales from last year, sales for its gasoline counterpart dropped by 9.5%.

Ford’s latest sales results showed the electric version of the Mustang outpacing its internal combustion counterpart, according to Green Car Reports.

The automaker’s Q4 and year-end sales results revealed that 51,745 Mustang Mach-E SUVs were sold in 2024, compared to 44,003 gasoline-powered Mustangs. It marks a 26.9% increase in sales of the Mach-E from last year, contrasted with a 9.5% drop in sales for gasoline Mustangs.

Roadblocks in the supply chain made it difficult at times for Ford to obtain 2.3-liter turbo-4 engines, leading to low inventory in the second half of 2024, according to the company.

The Mach-E has seen continued success since its initial launch, though. From the time it was first announced in April 2021, it was already being eaten up off dealer lots just a few months later.
