Camille Christopher and Dawn Deveraux-Blyden of AutoZone will be leading a session on attracting Gen Z talent at the upcoming Ratchet+Wrench Management Conference, taking place October 8–10 in Glendale, Arizona.
Christopher joined AutoZone in 2023 as a senior commercial marketing manager, overseeing brand strategy and sales support for the commercial business. Prior to that, she was director of marketing for Hollywood Feed, a pet care retailer based in Memphis, Tennessee, and spent seven years in various food service and brand marketing roles at PepsiCo/Frito-Lay in Dallas, Texas.
Deveraux-Blyden is a divisional human resources manager at AutoZone. She joined the company in 2008 as a field human resources generalist before being promoted to regional human resources manager. Deveraux-Blyden honorably served in the United States Army for 11 years before beginning her AutoZone career, and is a two-time recipient of the company’s Regional Human Resources Manager of the Year award.
The two will delve into key traits that define Gen Zs—ages 18-28–such as their need for autonomy, preference for transparent communication, emphasis on work-life balance, and how these factors influence their expectations in the workplace.
Attendees will gain practical insights into building trust, fostering collaboration, and leveraging Gen Z’s strengths in establishing a high-performing work environment. The session will also present the findings from a survey conducted with auto repair shop owners, managers, and Gen Z technicians to explore the factors influencing employer choice, motivation, and retention among younger workers in the automotive industry.
