Slate Auto Partners With RepairPal for Electric Vehicle Service
Slate Auto has partnered with RepairPal to have its upcoming affordable electric truck serviced at RepairPal’s network of shops, according to InsideEVs.
While other EV automakers like Tesla and Rivian build their own service centers, Slate Auto will have its customers rely on RepairPal’s network of over 4,000 shops for servicing their electric trucks.
“One of the greatest challenges around building a car company is building that infrastructure, covering it coast-to-coast, and ensuring an ideal customer experience," Jeremy Snyder, Slate's chief commercial officer, told InsideEVs. “The time and the CapEx that it takes to grow out hundreds of stores is one of the greatest barriers to entry, and a problem that we have solved in an innovative way.”
The Slate truck will begin production in Indiana next year, with trucks expected to hit the road by late 2026. By late 2027 or early 2028, the company expects the Indiana plant to produce 150,000 trucks annually, with prices in the mid-$20,000s. While the company will sell its vehicles direct-to-consumer, it will differ in its approach to service centers through the RepairPal partnership.
“We believe that when customers are able to visit local shops close to their home, that will give them a sense of security that, quite frankly, they haven't had in the direct-to-consumer space,” added Snyder.
