A Christian Brothers Automotive shop in Cumming, Georgia, recently celebrated a decade of business through several donations, including $10,000 to a struggling mother.

Forsyth County News reports that Christian Brothers Automotive Cumming, located at 5960 Bethelview Road in west Forsyth County, joined other franchisees across the country as part of National Service Day. The store has also been involved with organizations over the years including Family Promise, Family Haven, and Jesse’s House to provide free oil changes, car repairs, and support to those in need.

In total, the Cumming store contributed 36 oil changes and filters, 20 tires, nine sets of pads and rotors, and an axle replacement. Owner Tom Burgess shared that it was made possible with the help of larger companies like O’Reilly Auto Parts, AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, Kevin Huggins from Parts Authority, Goodyear Auto Service, Professional Grade Products, and BG Products.

The store recently held an event to celebrate the success of its efforts, with attendees including partners like Chick-fil-A, The Collection at Forsyth, Funky Mountain Flowers and Gifts, Starbucks, Better Moonwalks of Georgia, Total Mechanical Care’s Jacob Thompson, DJ Mike Stone, and volunteer groups from Troop 1109 and the South Forsyth Equestrian Team.

Additionally, one guest, Cheryl Robinson, ended up catching the attention of Christian Brothers Automotive. The local mother lost her husband during the pandemic, and has since faced her daughter becoming blind after an accident and losing her job and home after a heart attack.

Robinson was given a $10,000 check from Christian Brothers Automotive to help her cover housing deposits. Within a few days, she was able to receive the keys to her new home.

“Stories like hers remind us why National Service Day matters,” said president and CEO Donnie Carr. “Our franchisees live out our mission of ‘Love Your Neighbor As Yourself’ every day, and what the CBA Cumming team did is a powerful example of faith in action.”
