Idaho Repair Shop Acquires Old Dealership Building to Expand Operations
Harris Garage, an auto repair shop in American Falls, Idaho, is expanding its operation six times larger after the acquisition of an old Chevy dealership building, reports Idaho State Journal.
Owners Bob and Vincent Harris purchased the 9700-square-foot building in October, with plans to expand their operations from their current 1500 square foot shop. The business has been operating out of the same building for over thirty years now.
Harris Garage was first started in the early 50s, when Bob’s father opened a shop on 2nd Street in Pocatello. It closed in 1965, but Bob would reopen the business in American Falls in 1988. Vincent came to work at the shop in 2018, after working in the army as a diesel mechanic.
“As the third generation Harris, to own and operate Harris Garage is a great privilege and honor,” said Vincent. “To see where it first started on 2nd Street in Pocatello to my dad opening up shop in American Falls in the ‘80s and now me taking it over and working alongside my father and youngest son is beyond words. With this expansion we will be able to provide a faster service and turnaround rate to our customers.”
With the additional space, Harris Garage plans to install five hoists and sprawl out. They hope to be operating out of the building by the end of December.
