An auto repair business in Cincinnati has opened its 10th location in the area, reports Cincinnati Business Courier.

Ulmer’s Auto Care closed on the property and business asset acquisition of Star Motors in Corryville, marking its eighth acquisition in the past five years.

First opened in 1936 by Bruce Ulmer Sr., Ulmer’s Auto Care was purchased by Greg Kauffeld in 1981. Bryan Kauffeld joined the business in 2002, and now serves as the company’s CEO. The company began a growth-by-acquisition strategy in 2020, and now sits at 10 stores with the most recent acquisition of Star Motors.

Star Motors, located at 2924 Short Vine St. since 1977, was a prime spot for Ulmer’s due to its stellar reputation, said Bryan Kauffeld.

“(It's) in a populated area with high daily traffic count from the university and the hospitals nearby,” said Kauffeld. “(There’s) a strong need for dependable auto care and maintenance in this area.”

Star’s four employees were retained throughout the transition. The store was temporarily closed for rebranding and training, with plans to reopen later this month. A nearby office space was also rented out by Ulmer’s to use as a customer waiting area.
