Cooper Standard Automotive Closing Ohio Manufacturing Plant
Cooper Standard Automotive Inc. will be shutting down its manufacturing plant in New Lexington, Ohio, reports The Street.
The company—which provides automotive products for sealing, fluid handling, and specialized rubber and plastic components—announced in a Dec. 8 letter to the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services that layoffs would begin Feb. 6, 2026, and will continue through the plant’s closure, which is set for approximately July 1, 2027.
193 hourly workers and 35 salaried workers are employed by Cooper Standard Automotive. They will have the option to transfer to another company facility based on certain eligibility requirements. Components produced by the company include fuel and brake delivery systems, fluid transfer systems, custom rubber and plastic seals, spliced O-rings/corners, custom molded profiles, die-cut, rubber-to-metal bonding, overmolding, molded details, dual and tri-durometer seals, clip-on seals, push-pin solutions, and vibration isolation and dampening.
“Cooper Standard is continually analyzing plant utilization and looking for opportunities to optimize our manufacturing footprint and overall operating efficiency,” wrote the Dec. 8 letter. “As a result, the company has made the difficult decision to close our New Lexington, Ohio, Facility.”
