Auto Care Association Highlights Kansas Bill Supporting Vehicle Repair Data Access

The proposed legislation reflects growing momentum for the Right to Repair movement in Kansas.
March 5, 2026

Right to Repair legislation has recently been introduced in Kansas, according to an Auto Care Association announcement.

Kansas Senate Bill 495 would require automakers to provide independent repair facilities and vehicle owners with access to the diagnostic data, tools, and software needed to service modern vehicles. ACA has said the bill reflects the same principles driving the federal REPAIR Act.

The bill was recently introduced and has not yet received a committee hearing. This is the early-awareness stage, with no action required yet—however, it is worth keeping a close eye on, especially as state Right to Repair momentum builds the case for federal action.

ACA has noted that any members or shops with Kansas operations should be made aware of the bill’s introduction in the state.
