Auto Repair Shop in Toledo Faces Challenges as Rising Gas Prices Limit Mobile Services

Mallery Auto Repair in Toledo, Ohio, has seen a decline in mobile repair calls due to rising gas prices, affecting its service offerings and customer base.

An auto repair shop in Toledo, Ohio, has had to limit its mobile repair services due to the impact of rising gas prices, as shared in a recent report from WTVG.

Joshua Mallery saw success with mobile repairs when he implemented the service at his shop, Mallery Auto Repair. In just the first year, it became a cornerstone of his business, averaging between 12 and 20 cars a week.

However, that recently changed due to climbing gas prices. With it being more expensive to travel to his customers, Mallery has seen a significant downturn in mobile calls. The shop eventually saw an entire week of no mobile calls.

“Definitely lost a fair share amount of customers,” said Mallery.

The change has been a sign of financial struggles for Mallery’s customer base. His mobile repairs often helped the most busy, hardworking individuals in the community, such as single parents. But Mallery said the increasing costs are leading to more drivers putting off service.

Mallery has been quick to adapt, though. Shifting its focus to prioritize more in-shop repairs, the business is now also offering free diagnostics for drivers to help lift some of the burden on consumers.
