Louisiana Moves Toward Eliminating Vehicle Inspection Stickers
As efforts progress to end the requirement for vehicle inspection stickers in Louisiana, Benny’s Car Wash and Oil Change announced it will be preemptively ceasing its own vehicle inspection services.
WBRZ reports that the company announced the end of vehicle inspection services at its Perkins Road and Coursey Boulevard locations, beginning June 1.
Within the post, the company cited recent changes in Louisiana state law as the reason for the decision. The change is a reference to House Bill 1085, which would eliminate state vehicle inspection stickers, replacing them with a $6 QR code. It seems likely the bill will advance as it has the support of the state’s governor.
If the bill passes, inspection stickers will not be required beginning Jan. 1, 2027. In the meantime, officials with Benny’s shared that they’ve already experienced roadblocks in acquiring state-required certification training for vehicle inspectors.
"While inspections remain a requirement today, the future of the program is changing," told owner Justin Alford. "After carefully evaluating the long-term outlook of the program, we believe this is the right decision for our company and our customers."
