Ford Issues Safety Recall for 2012-2018 Focus Models Over Engine Stalling Concerns

Ford has recalled more than 250,000 Focus vehicles from 2012 to 2018 due to a canister purge valve defect that can cause engine stalls while driving.

Ford has issued a recall for over 250,000 vehicles due to an issue that can cause the engine to stall, reports CBS News.

Included in the recall are 2012 to 2018 model year Ford Focus vehicles. The issue lies with the canister purge valve, which is prone to getting stuck open. This can cause the engine to stall while driving.

“Affected vehicles may illuminate a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) or customers may observe inaccurate fuel gauge indication, inaccurate distance to empty indication and/or have drivability concerns,” shared the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration.

Dealers will implement a powertrain software update to resolve the issue. Notices to vehicle owners will be mailed between July 6 and July 10.
