GPC Releases Q2 2026 Report: What It Means for Shop Owners
Genuine Parts Company released its second-quarter results for 2026. The company reported sales of $6.5 billion, a 6% increase from Q2 2025's $6.2 billion, and remains on track for its 2027 separation of its automotive and industrial businesses.
"The GPC team delivered solid second-quarter results, driven by continued sales growth and disciplined execution across our businesses," said Will Stengel, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Our teams performed well despite a dynamic global environment, and we remain on track to complete our planned separation in the first quarter of 2027."
The Results
GPC attributed the growth to a 3.4% increase in comparable sales, a net 1.4% favorable impact of foreign currency, and a 1.2% benefit from acquisitions. The company also reported a net income of $228 million and an adjusted net income of $296 million excluding the costs tied to the restructuring and corporate separation. GPC reported a net merchandise inventory of $6.3 billion, a 3.6% increase since the start of the year.
North American automotive sales increased by 3.8% to $2.54 billion, primarily due to comparable sales increases, though GPC slightly lowered its growth forecast for that segment from 3%-5% to 2.5%-4.5%.
What It Means for Shop Owners
GPC still predicts growth for its North American Automotive business, although the reduced expectations may translate to stabilizing aftermarket demand. The soon-to-be fully separate Automotive division will focus exclusively on auto parts distribution and service solutions, creating new opportunities to streamline services and support shops—especially given the increase in merchandise. Now is also a good time to either build or reinforce your relationships with your local NAPA representatives to stay up to date with the latest offerings.
