Introducing ADAS Insider: A Special Supplement Aimed at Closing Industry Knowledge Gaps
Introducing ADAS Insider, a special supplement issue sponsored by Hunter Engineering Company and Autel, highlighting a need for shop owners to understand advanced driver assistance systems from a customer service, legal, business, and practical standpoint.
The need to provide ADAS calibration services is becoming unavoidable for any auto repair shop. After several years of industry focus on EV readiness, demand for EV service has cooled while ADAS has moved to the forefront: nearly every vehicle built since 2016 comes equipped with ADAS. It requires calibration, meaning these vehicles now show up in shop bays far more often than EVs ever did.
To identify the knowledge gaps within the auto repair industry, EndeavorB2B launched the ADAS Knowledge and Capabilities Survey during the winter, polling 344 shop owners, managers, and technicians across repair shops and tire dealerships. The results pointed to widespread uncertainty: 61% of respondents said their shops have no systematic process to identify which vehicles need calibration at intake, nearly half lack a business plan for expanding into ADAS services, and only a small fraction feel their shop has a clear strategy for explaining ADAS-related price increases to customers.
This supplemental issue features insight from industry experts who have deep experience in ADAS repair and a firm understanding of what shops need to be successful.
