A Victory Tire & Auto location in Duluth, Minnesota, recently joined a statewide initiative to reduce emissions while offering free repairs to eligible vehicle owners, according to a report from the Duluth News Tribune.

The shop began participating in Project Clean Air Repair in August. Project CAR is led by a nonprofit based in Minneapolis called Environmental Initiative, which works with businesses, government bodies, and impacted communities to address environmental concerns.

As part of the program, technicians at Project CAR shops will identify vehicles with broken or outdated emissions and exhaust systems, and fix them for free for income-qualified vehicle owners. There are currently 14 participating garages across Minnesota.

Project CAR began at The Lift Garage in 2017, and in August celebrated its thousandth free emissions system repair since launching. The program has since completed over $1 million in repairs, funded through its founding partners: the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, the Flint Hills Resources refinery, and additional funding from the City of Minneapolis, Marathon Petroleum, and Great River Energy. 

“It’s an opportunity for the citizens of Duluth to receive a little benefit to their car repair bill, which no one's really excited about, anyways,” shared Jordan Cozatt, the director of national fleet management for Victory Tire & Auto. “It's a nice little lift.”
