Mercedes-Benz Expands Recall for Front Brake Hose Issue in S-Class Models

Mercedes-Benz has expanded its recall to include over 30,000 S-Class sedans from 2022 to 2025 due to a front brake hose defect that can cause brake fluid leaks.

Mercedes-Benz has expanded a recall for vehicles impacted by a front brake hose issue after additional research, reports Autoblog.

After recalling around 20,000 S-Class sedans last year for front brake hose problems, the automaker received more field reports between March and August 2025. Lab and durability test results on front brake hoses were gained in July 2026, with Mercedes-Benz deciding in September that the recall needed to be expanded.

The recall has been expanded to 30,078 vehicles, comprised of the following 2022 to 2025 S-Class models:

  • Mercedes-Maybach S 580 4MATIC
  • Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4MATIC
  • Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance
  • Mercedes-Benz S 500 4MATIC
  • Mercedes-Benz S 580 4MATIC
  • Mercedes-Benz S 580 e 4MATIC

The issue with the front brake hose specifically is that it’s prone to leaking brake fluid as the car ages, which the automaker credited to material fatigue from heat and stress. There are no warnings of the issue beforehand, but a red brake fluid will appear if it happens. The company has used a new brake hose in its production since Nov. 29, 2024.

Mercedes-Benz will have the front brake hoses replaced in recalled vehicles to remedy the issue. Dealers have been made aware, and owners will receive notices beginning Nov. 27.
