Unipres Opens Alabama Steel Plant

Jan. 2, 2015

Jan. 2, 2015—Unipres, a Japan-based automotive supplier of steel automotive parts, opened its first plant in the U.S. earlier this week, according to the Birmingham Business Journal.

Located in Steele, Ala., the plant will take over real estate previously occupied by the Yachivo factory.

"Unipres is a world-class automotive components company with operations across the globe. We are happy to see the company join the growing line-up of auto suppliers in Alabama with this investment in St. Clair County," Greg Canfield, secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce, told the BBJ. "The Alabama team will continue to work closely with the leadership of Unipres to help make the new facility productive and successful."
