Aug. 13, 2013—Meritor Inc. has named Ivor J. Evans as chief executive officer and president of the company.
Evans has been a member of the board of directors since 2005 and the company’s executive chairman, interim CEO and president since May 3.
"The board is confident that [Evans’] wealth of relevant operational, manufacturing and management experience, combined with the strength and continuity of the current management team, is the right formula to lead Meritor into the future,” said David W. Devonshire, presiding director of the board.
Evans has previously held roles with Union Pacific Railroad, Union Pacific Corporation and Emerson Electric Company. He also spent 21 years serving in key operations roles for General Motors Corporation.
“I strongly believe in this company and the three-year plan we are executing designed to improve earnings, increase revenue and strengthen our balance sheet,” Evans said. “During the past three months, I’ve spent a great deal of time getting to know the leadership team here at Meritor and I look forward to working with them.”
