April 11, 2013—Ford Motor Company posted its best hybrid sales quarter ever in the first quarter of 2013 with sales totaling 21,080 vehicles, according to a company statement. It was the first time Ford sold more than 20,000 hybrids in a quarter.
Ford’s hybrid sales increased 324 percent nationally over 2012, giving the company a 16 percent share of the electric vehicle market.
This was the first quarter Ford offered all four of its new hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, including the Fusion Hybrid, Fusion Energi, C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi.
Company officials attribute the record sales to the C-MAX and Fusion hybrids. According to the statement, the all-new design, fuel efficiency and smart technology that these models offer is attracting a new group of customers to Ford vehicles.
