Nov. 29, 2018—Eric's Auto & Tire Service in Hamilton, Ohio has been sold to shop owner's nephew, according to Hamilton Journal-News. Eric Pohlman has worked at the business for 22 years, according to the Journal-News, and made the decision to pass it off to his nephew, Ryan.
“I actually think he’ll do better with it,” Eric Pohlman said to the Hamilton Journal-News. “He’s younger. He’s got ideas (and) I think he’ll bring more to the table.”
According to the publication, the unexpected death of Pohlman's brother, Scott, contributed to the decision of parting ways with the business.
“There’s other chapters of my life, I guess,” Pohlman said to Hamilton Journal-News. “He’s the first one in the family who passed away, so it kind of puts things in perspective.”
Pohlman will head out from the business on Dec. 31 and plans to become more involved with coaching independent automotive shops, Hamilton Journal-News reports. Today, Pohlman coaches 11 shops.
“I’m too young for retirement,” Pohlman said to the Hamilton Journal-News. “This is the second part of my life. I love teaching. I’m going to be busy. Maybe I just won’t be as busy as I was, but I will be busy. I’m not going to sit around on the couch and watch Oprah all day.”
Ryan Pohlman said he’s thankful for the opportunity to run the shop.
“I love that we’re able to continue the family tradition here and have it stay local and Eric will still be involved in the business, helping me out and coaching me along the way,” Ryan Pohlman said to the Hamilton Journal-News.
