Aug. 2, 2017—Honda has issued a recall for more than 24,000 of certain CR-V models due to the risk of the fuel supply pipe leaking or disconnecting leading to a fire.

The recall includes certain AWD and 2WD models of Honda's 2017 CR-V crossover, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Dealers were notified of the issue on July 14, and owners should be tipped off by Aug. 25.

If the pipe were to disconnect the engine would stall leading to an increased risk of a crash, and if it were to leak it would lead to an increased risk of a fire.

Honda reports in the government documents that it has received seven warranty claims, four field reports, but no reports of injuries, crashes or fires.

The issue potentially affecting 24,127 CR-Vs stems from a possible manufacturing mistake by Honda supplier Sanoh America.

"During manufacturing, the supplier may have used an incorrect die to create the end form on the fuel feed pipe, which is needed to secure the connection to the fuel feed hose," NHTSA documents read. "If the end form was not manufactured correctly, the feed pipe and the feed hose may not be completely connected or may disconnect once the fuel lines become pressurized, resulting in a fuel leak.
