As snow and ice continue to rip through a majority of the United States, it's important to not let outside factors disrupt your business. In a recent Auto Care Association webinar that took place on Friday, Feb. 15, John Washbish, chief executive officer of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, discussed how shops should focus on what they can control at their business.
"Let's not come up with more excuses to not sell parts," Washbish said. "We try to stay focused on the things that we can control, not the things that we can't control. We can't control what the government's doing, we can't control the weather, we can't control the tariffs, so what are the things that we can control to go out to the marketplace and move our needle."
It's important to not let outside factors take away business, Washbish said.
"It's wise to look at these outside influences like weather and capitalize on it when you can," Washbish said. "I actually think all of the weather has been not as cold as we'd normally like it, the fact that it's been up and down and all around has caused a lot of road damage [that's] difficult for the consumers, but should be good for our business."
"I think the conditions are very good for a robust 2019 year for the aftermarket."
