RepairPal Study Ranks Most Expensive Repair Costs

Oct. 5, 2016—RepairPal conducted a study on the average cost of common auto repairs for the most popular cars in the U.S.

Using a proprietary database of auto repair pricing in the U.S., RepairPal calculated the average cost of four common auto repairs—water pump, alternator, brake pad replacement, and oil change service—on 40 popular 2010 car models.

The survey found Hyundai to have a higher MPG and the most affordable average costs of auto repairs.

The Volkswagen Jetta and Mitsubishi Lancer are both on the most expensive list and cost more to repair that most luxury models and all of the SUVs.   

SUVs are among the most affordable models to repair with the Mazda CX-7 and Ford Explorer coming in high on the list.

One of the most expensive models to repair, the Lincoln MKZ, is American-made.
