Aug. 23, 2013—Bob Stewart, manager of aftermarket service support for General Motors, will discuss counterfeit tools at the fall 2013 general meeting of the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) on Nov. 6.
The meeting, free of charge, will be held at the Sands Expo/Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas during the AAPEX and SEMA trade shows and does not require pre-registration.
“There are significant risks in the use of counterfeit tools,” said Stewart. “I have interesting findings to share with those attending this NASTF meeting.”
Stewart will share his knowledge about the issue in his session titled “Who’s Cheating Whom.” He will also share identifying characteristics of counterfeit tools to help technicians avoid the problem.
“We suspect that the problem of counterfeit tools is a greater threat in independent shops than it is in franchise dealerships so NASTF hopes to use this presentation to close that gap,” said Skip Potter, executive director of NASTF.
