Feds Investigate F-150 Brakes

Oct. 5, 2016

Oct. 5, 2016—An investigation has been launched by federal auto safety regulators into the safety of brakes on certain versions of the Ford F-150 pickup truck, according to a report by USA Today.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is looking into what has been described as “sudden and complete loss” of braking in 2015 and 2016 model-year F-150s equipped with the V-6 engine, according to the report.

The NHTSA has received 25 reports of brake trouble with these vehicles. The investigation will cover about 282,000 vehicles, according to USA Today.

"We will cooperate with NHTSA on these investigations, as we always do," Ford spokeswoman Elizabeth Weigandt said in a statement, according to the report. "Ford is committed to delivering top quality in our vehicles. We continuously evaluate our processes for potential improvements and when the data indicates a safety recall is needed, we move quickly on behalf of our customers."
