Sears Holdings Corp. has added 71 Sears Auto Centers—including 30 in California—to the list of stores that will offer installation and balancing for customers who purchase tires on Amazon.com.

June 14, 2018—Sears Holdings Corp. has added 71 Sears Auto Centers — including 30 in California alone — to the list of stores that will offer installation and balancing for customers who purchase tires on Amazon.com, Tire Business reports.

That brings to 118 the number of Sears Auto Centers across the U.S. that will make the service available.

Sears began offering the full-service tire installation and balancing for Amazon.com customers on May 9 at 47 Sears Auto Centers in eight metropolitan areas. The service covers any brand of tire purchased. In addition, Sears said has begun selling its DieHard all-season passenger tires on Amazon.com.

This collaboration means Sears Auto became the first nationwide auto service center to offer Amazon.com customers a ship-to-store tire solution integrated into the Amazon.com checkout process.

"Amazon customer reviews have been very positive, and we are two months ahead of schedule," said Mike McCarthy, vice president and general manager of Sears Automotive. "Customers are taking advantage of additional services during the tire installation process, such as oil changes and alignments."

Mr. McCarthy said Sears is meeting "our 60-minute tire installation commitment, and more than 90 percent of the Amazon customers are new Sears Automotive customers."

Other states with stores added to the list include Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington.
