The New York shop says there are benefits to using inhouse resources as a heat solution.

Jan. 23, 2019—An auto repair shop in New York is taking steps to provide a new wave of warmth in the shop. According to Spectrum News Rochester, Schoen Auto Repair in Rochester, N.Y., runs its heater on used oil from oil changes.

"Not only are we reusing it, but it's a clean and efficient way of using the oil," Jeff Magione, service manager told Spectrum News Rochester.

Magione says there are several benefits from getting warmth inhouse.

"It's definitely something we can use instead of calling another company," Magione said to Spectrum News Rochester. "So we're almost self-sufficient now."
