March 19, 2019—A shop in New Hampshire wants the community to know about a past-manager's embezzlement to the business. According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, Janice Lefebvre, owner of Bud and Jan Lefebvre’s Auto Repair in Londonderry, N.H., wants the community to know that former manager John Leonhard embezzled thousands from the business.
Leonhard was convicted of theft in November of 2018. Leonhard was a general manager for the 20 years and leased the business before the owners took it back after it failed in 2009.
The shop kept him on as manager and didn't notice irregularities in the books until he missed work after becoming ill.
Leonhard never came back to the business, and Lefebvre feared community members believed the business let him go after he became sick.
Since his exit, she's seen a loss in customers. Leonard plead guilty at Rockingham Superior Court, according to court documents, and was sentenced to five years suspended with $26,000 in restitution. Lefebvre will receive $21,000 of the sum, the publication reports.
