A 2019 autonomous driving survey by CarGurus revealed that consumers are becoming more comfortable with autonomous vehicles.

April 26, 2019—A 2019 autonomous driving survey by CarGurus revealed that consumers are becoming more comfortable with autonomous vehicles, according to CNET. The survey polled 1,146 car owners to better understand their opinions on the autonomous vehicles in the future.

"Consumer sentiment around self-driving cars is changing fast, with enthusiasm rapidly replacing skepticism," Madison Gross, director of customer insights at CarGurus, said in a statement to CNET. "These benchmarked results demonstrate that today's consumers are becoming more comfortable with the idea of either owning an autonomous vehicle, or having them on the road, and it will be fascinating to continue to monitor this perception shift."

Results revealed that 32 percent said they were excited about autonomous vehicles—an increase from 21 percent in 2018. Additionally, the survey found that the number of consumers concerned about autonomous vehicles fell from 47 percent in 2018 to 37 percent today.

29 percent of those who were polled said they would trust Tesla to make an autonomous vehicle, CNET reports. The data was collected in March of this year.
