Ford Fined in China During Trade Fight

China's antitrust regulator announced on Wednesday a fine of around $25 million on Ford's main venture in the country.

June 6, 2019—China's antitrust regulator announced a $25 million fine on Changan Ford, according to a report by The New York Times.

The fine comes during the time when China's trade fight with the U.S. continues.

The Trump administration barred American technology companies from selling to Huawei, the Chinese maker of smartphones and telecommunications equipment, denying it access to vital software, microchips and other components

China said last week that it would create a blacklist of "unreliable" foreign companies and people that harm the interests of Chinese firms, without giving specifics.

China is the world’s largest market for cars, but the Chinese economy is slowing, and some assembly plants run by Detroit carmakers have been dismissing workers and running below capacity, according to the report.
