Lowrider Mag, Quaker State Building Custom Impala for SEMA

Sept. 21, 2019

The two brands are teaming up on the build, which will restore a 1968 model into a "fun-to-cruise, eye-catching ride," according to the sponsors.

September 21, 2019—Lowrider Magazine and Quaker State announced a partnership to build a custom 1968 Chevrolet Impala that will be unveiled at 2019 SEMA in Las Vegas.

The joint venture will restore the Impala to be an "eye-catching ride," according to a press release. After showing off the car at SEMA, it will head to auction, with the proceeds benefiting a charity.

“Working with Quaker State on this build provides us a great opportunity to give back,” said Lowrider Editor-In-Chief Joe Ray in the release. “With a community that is often misrepresented, it is important to us to raise awareness and make our Impala unique in the same way our community members are."

The Impala will get a full restoration, but the complete build will include customizations that will turn it into a modern cruiser, the release said. The car will get new paint, a fresh interior, new wheels and tires and a sound system.

“We can’t wait to get to work with Lowrider and create such a special build,” said Jaclyn Chastain, Quaker State Marketing Manager, in the release. “We are honored to have the opportunity to work with Lowrider on this new project."

The official SEMA unveiling will take place at the Shell “Pioneering Performance” booth on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 12:30PM. SEMA runs from Nov. 5 to 8.
