Industry Leader Passes Away

The co-founder of the Motorist Assurance Program (MAP), Leonard M. Vogt, has passed away at the age of 71.

Sept. 23, 2020—Leonard M. Vogt, co-founder of the Motorist Assurance Program (MAP), recently passed away on Sept. 19, 2020, at the age of 71, according to his obituary.

According to a press release, Vogt was a key contributor to the development of the Uniform Inspection and Communication Standards (UICS) and was elected to the Board for Automotive Maintenance & Repair Association (AMRA). He brought a tremendous amount of automotive knowledge to the position due to his long career in the automotive aftermarket.

"To many of us, he was more than just a board member; he was a colleague, good friend, and a great storyteller," according to a statement from the AMRA president Jeff Cox and AMRA chair Jeff Campbell. "Whether it was a Technical Conference or any other industry event, you could always see Len smiling and sharing stories. Len will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched, leaving behind many fond memories for all of us."

No public services are scheduled at this time, according to the obituary site.
