ETI to Present Market Research Study Findings

March 26, 2015

March 26, 2015The Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI) will present the findings of its latest market research study at ToolTech 2015 on April 13 in Austin, Texas.

The study, titled "The Impact Aftermarket Service Facilities Have on the New Car Buying Preferences of Consumers," attempted to capture data on the subject.

"We have always been able to answer that the effect is significant and we can produce many anecdotal references to specific instances when a technician has recommended that a loyal customer purchase a particular brand of vehicle over another one for some particular reason or another," ETI said in a press release. "But to our knowledge no one has ever attempted to capture empirical data on this subject."

ETI conducted two surveys, one sent to shop technicians and another sent to consumers.

The association asked technicians if they try to influence vehicle buying decisions, while asking consumers if they are are influenced. ETI also asked what brands are recommended, how often and why.

ETI said the study will also provide real numbers to show the importance of the relationship between vehicle manufacturers and the aftermarket.
