Dan Risley Joins AMI Board of Trustees

July 15, 2013

July 15, 2013—The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) on Monday announced that Dan Risley, executive director of the Automotive Service Association (ASA), has assumed a permanent position on its board of trustees.

“AMI has a long, storied history with ASA and I’m glad to continue building upon that relationship,” Risley said. “AMI’s ability to continually deliver high quality education and content that is relative to today’s business is a testament to their reputation in the industry. I’m grateful to be able to contribute to their ongoing success.”

Risley joined the ASA as executive vice president in March before being named executive director of the association in April following the resignation of Ron Pyle. Prior to that, Risley served six years as market claims manager for Allstate Insurance Co. Risley also previously served as executive director of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS).

“I have known Dan for many years and have great respect for him and what he has done for our industry,” said Tony Passwater, chairman of the AMI. “We on the AMI board look forward to working with him as the ASA representative.”

Other members serving on the AMI’s board of trustees, who represent both collision and mechanical repair shops, include the following:

– Sheri Hamilton of ASA-Midwest in Overland Park, Kan.
– Bob Keith of CARSTAR Auto Body Repair Experts in Overland Park, Kan.
– Tim McDonnell of Mitchell1 in Poway, Calif.
– Tony Passwater of AEII in Indianapolis
– Freda Thompson of Ace Auto Body Inc. in Hartselle, Ala.
